CASE STUDY
PERRON GROUP
The Perron Way

Perron Group is one of Western Australia’s most successful private companies with a wide range of investments including one of Australia’s largest privately-held property portfolios.

Founded by Stan Perron AC, the company’s operations and investments extend into the ownership of shopping centres across Australia, commercial real estate, land development, motor vehicle and automotive parts distribution as well as infrastructure, mining royalties and equities.

Key to the success of Perron Group has always been its unique culture, a legacy of the vision and values of Mr Perron who, while renowned for his business acumen, set a lifelong example in his commitment to ethical behaviour and generous philanthropy.

Since his sad passing in late 2018, a major focus has been to ensure that Mr Perron’s rich cultural legacy is passed on and sustained for future generations.  Just prior to his passing, JLCA worked with the Executive at Perron Group to articulate and launch The Perron Way, articulating for the first time in written form the essence of the company’s heart and soul as exemplified by Mr Perron.

This led to the development of a strategy to ensure the underlying meaning and intent of The Perron Way continues to be reinforced internally by a program of communications that is engaging and relevant to the Group’s diverse workforce. In addition to reinforcing the five values of integrity, respect, excellence, teamwork and compassion, feedback from staff indicated a keen desire to understand more about what was occurring in the wider business and especially the work of the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation.

The program, now in place, is consistent with JLCA’s passion for strategic communication, whereby tools and platforms are selected and activated based on their capacity to achieve successful business outcomes rather than solely focused on producing outputs. In the case of Perron Group, this includes a two-pronged internal communication program consisting of a dynamic staff intranet, which is updated regularly and the distribution of a hard copy magazine created in recognition that many employees don’t regularly access a computer.

It also extends to the support and reinforcement of activities like a staff volunteering program which allows employees to experience the joys of contributing personally to the needs of others.  The team at JLCA feels immensely privileged to play its part in helping Perron Group sustain the legacy of its amazing founder.
